Buying Glasses Online...Should I?
I've had the above glasses for four years now, and while I still like them, they are getting kind of beat up. The lenses are scratched and they are just worn out. I went to the eye doctor the other day, and my prescription is a tad different now, and so I do want to go ahead and buy a new pair. I found one pair that I liked at the office, but just liked, not loved. I also wear contacts, but right now I wear glasses about 50% of the time, so I do want to love them.
I know the online glasses business is really big right now, and companies like Firmoo, Coastal, Warby Parker and Rivet and Sway (who I just heard of!) are very popular. I asked on Twitter the other day and heard from a few followers that have used Firmoo and Coastal and were very happy.
So...I am asking you guys! Have you purchased glasses online? Did you have a good experience? Are you happy with the glasses you picked out? I would love to hear your experiences below!

I haven't ordered glasses over the Internet, I cannot really risk that much. How will I be sure they fit me and look good on me? It is too big a risk for me, I prefer to to touch them before :) But your old glasses are so chic!
ReplyDeleteI haven't yet, though there are certainly a lot of online choices around. I really think unless you knew how that specific style was going to look on you, I'd have a hard time. Sometimes I think a pair is really cute on the display and then when I put it on, it just doesn't look right on me. I recently got a new pair myself as my Rx had changed just slightly, after a few years with a pair I loved. Luckily for me, I actually found a pair at a big box retailer that I loved, and the price was super easy on the pocketbook!
ReplyDeleteI wear glasses 90% of the time and ordered my current pair through firmoo. I am very happy with them and since the first pair is free, what do you have to lose? :) I wrote a review on my blog if you want to check it out!

I haven't ordered mine online, but I plan to next time. I have friends who have ordered from several of those sites, and have had great experiences. Glasses are SO expensive in the doctor's office, so the online choice just would work better for me. They are so inexpensive that I can afford to buy a pair of sunglasses too, and don't have to buy a honking huge pair to wear over my glasses. They have really nice selections on those sites, and the price, for me, far outweighs not being able to try them on or see them beforehand. And the earrings....don't mind if I do...just wore them yesterday, and sincerely LURVE them! :)
ReplyDeletei don't wear glasses but my hubby got a free pair from Firmoo and really likes them!
ReplyDeletei have ordered from warby parker a few times and LOVE them! amazing product and customer service.
ReplyDeleteI did wind up doing the trial of frames from WP, but didn't love any of them!
DeleteI like Zennioptical.com the best. I have bought from coastal.... Their measurements don't seem to match up.... Though you may want to just wait until they have a crazy sale and then you don't feel like you lost out if you don't Love them.
ReplyDeleteI used Zennioptical.com too and love my glasses. I ended up getting some a little funkier than I would have if they had been more expensive. And I really enjoy them. People don't normally recognize me, but in my glasses they do. Weird, but fun! Good luck in your decision making!
ReplyDeleteI checked Zenni, they have some great prices! Thanks for the suggestion!
