DIY: Romantic Red Heart Votive Holder.

Well, here we have another craft born out of winter boredom and cabin fever...but I was very surprised at how cute these turned out!  My little boy loves anything involving glue or painting, so this was a big hit.



You will need:

:: clean, empty jars
:: white tissue paper, cut into small squares
:: red tissue paper hearts
:: mod podge
:: paint brush
:: tea lights



Working in sections, brush Mod Podge all over your jar.  We used a pasta sauce jar and a salsa jar.




Place white tissue squares over the whole jar, and lightly brush over them with Mod Podge to make everything nice and smooth.   Don't brush too hard or the tissue starts to tear.  Don't put any tissue on the inside of the jar (don't drape it over the rim into the inside).

Place your hearts on top and brush with a little more Mod Podge.



Let them dry for several hours.

Pretty!  I have a tea light inside...use common sense, keep an eye on your candles.  I think it is safe as long as the tissue is not inside.  This is the one my son made and he didn't even put the tissue all the way to the top of the jar.  If you are nervous, use a battery operated tea light.  Either way, the white and red tissue paper creates a nice warm glow.
