Our bathroom was a lilac color before, with one wall covered in wallpaper, and a wallpaper border around the whole room. I was just tired of it...the patterns in the paper and on the shower curtain, the excessive amount of framed prints I had hanging up...it was just too busy.
Here it is Before:

You can see the marble-y wallpaper behind the frame above.
It took forever to get the wallpaper off the wall...it was a huge mess. And it was stinky, because we used the non-toxic vinegar method. Yuck. Then after it was sanded and cleaned up, we put the first coat of paint on, and I had a panic attack.
After talking to my dad, we decided to go ahead with a second coat to see if it made a difference. And it did! It turned out to be a nice, soft grey/blue.
Here it is After:

It's hard to tell, but it feels so much lighter and brighter now. The paint color is Silver Half Dollar from Benjamin Moore. We bought this shower curtain from Target, and it really adds to the simple, clean feeling in this room.

I also recently found this soap on a Target run, and it's my new favorite! The whole bathroom smells so good, it reminds me of Bath and Body Works Country Apple lotion. That was my signature scent as an undergrad. :)
Now that we've updated the bathroom, it just makes me want to paint and redo every room! I think we may have to tackle the kitchen next, it could use some fresh paint. To see more of our home, click here.
What was your last home improvement project? Do you have any wallpaper removal tips for me for next time?

Looks lovely and fresh!! I painted out master over winter break and I love it. It was a ton of work as we have vaulted ceilings but feels so fresh. I still need a few finishing touches, but overall it's finished.
ReplyDeleteWallpaper - been there, done that more times than I can count in my life. If I'm the one putting it up, I always prime the wall before, so that it comes off easily, otherwise it's usually a lot of spraying and elbow grease to get it off. :-)
Looks great! I love how light colors & simple shower curtains make bathrooms feel so open & clean.
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference! Looks great.
ReplyDeleteAnd wallpaper, ugh. In high school the new house that my parents bought had different wallpaper in EVERY SINGLE ROOM and it was such a big pain to remove it all. Then the wall was super flat and had no texture so we had to spray on the texture stuff but it never looked as good as normal walls do. :(
