With one child:
Eat breakfast together, possibly something healthy, like oatmeal.
Pack snacks and beloved toy in large, stylish tote bag.
Dress child in adorable outfit, brush teeth, comb hair.
Dress self in clean, matching clothes, including accessories such as scarf or cute necklace.
Leave house reasonably on time.
With two children:
8:30 Think about all that must be done to leave house successfully by 11am for doctor's appt. at noon.
8:35 Set baby in crib so I can visit potty.
8:37 Realize special snacks for four year old must be gathered to take along.
8:40 Wonder where four year old wandered off to.
8:41 Find four year old inexplicably standing in grossest part of bathroom, behind toilet near plunger.
8:42 Take off child's socks, find fresh socks and put on.
8:44 Check on baby and find a poopy diaper.
8:45 Think that it will be funny to blog about this. Wonder if that will happen.
8:48 Tape legos together with packing tape since four year old insists on placing them in a way where they will not interlock.
8:51 Rummage through cupboards for snacks, find large stash of forgotten chocolate bars - yay! Realize they are not dairy free - boo!
8:52 Find a tote bag for snacks.
8:54 Change diaper and baby, baby of course gets hands dirty.
8:56 Take baby to sink to wash hands and get bathroom floor all wet.
8:59 Set baby in high chair and realize baby has developed super power of inhuman strength overnight.
9:02 Finally get baby in and strapped.
9:03 Give crazy teething baby fishy teether from fridge.
9:05 Realize it is July 10 and I wanted to do 10 on 10 today.
9:08 Find camera, take random shot of bread for first photo of day.
9:12 Make toast.
9:15 Print labels for orders going out today.
9:20 Pour almond milk for child.
9:21 Realize I must eat, decide on peanut butter toast.
9:22 Listen to child's lament about when teeth will fall out. (?) Also, listen to expectation that first tooth lost will result in $300 under pillow. (!)
9:29 Pick up two dropped teethers that now must be washed.
9:30 Finish toast.
9:38 Nurse.
9:47 Finish nursing, baby still awake.
9:50 Four year old wants ham. Make ham roll ups, turn on Blue's Clues.
9:52 Realize two out of three people are not yet dressed. Dress four year old.
9:55 Set baby in crib and look for outfit for self.
9:56 Wash face, feel relief that I showered the night before.
10:00 Brush hair and teeth. Put on clothes.
10:10 Turn on toy for baby.
10:12 Baby fussing...change diaper.
10:15 Sit down to nurse again. Baby falls asleep.
10:25 Hold baby while I make a treasury on Etsy and edit photos.
10:25 - 11:15 Baby is zzzzzzzzzzz.
11:00 Start to worry about getting everyone out the door on time.
11:10 Give urgent, whispered instructions to four year old about brushing teeth, putting on shoes.
11:15 Set baby down in crib.
11:16 Gather up things to take along: diaper bag, snack bag, ergo, etc.
11:22 Check appearance in mirror, note that outfit creates the illusion that I "have it together." (ha!)
11:25 Grab baby, change diaper.
11:32 Hustle everyone out door. We are running late.
11:42 Everyone is buckled. We are off.
11:45 Call hubby to inform him we are running late. He offers to call doctor. (Appt. is in building where Darryl works).
11:48 Darryl calls back, tells me doctor has no record of my appointment.
11:55 Arrive at parent's to drop off child, am a frazzled mess. Speak to doctor's office and find out that they do not have an appointment for me, will have to reschedule.
So this was my day yesterday for real! I had my appointment with a surgeon that I have to see once a year as a follow up to a surgery I had years ago. I scheduled it last year, and had the little card that they write it on, and somehow it did not end up on their schedule. So crazy. It is quite the feat to get everyone out the door, so I was a tad upset that it didn't happen, but it wound up being fine. I got to visit with my parents and it was more relaxed anyway. The appointment will happen in August. The receptionist was super apologetic. I have approximately 16 more gray hairs.
The End.

Ten on ten? Umm...didn't happen. But I do have a nice picture of the bread we eat. :)

omg, i don't want another baby anytime soon!! haha...
ReplyDeleteLoved this post:) I have an 11 month old and a three year old and have had days just like that! We finally purchased a double stroller last night to help make outings go a little smoother.
ReplyDeleteThat is the story of my life! Right now I only have the baby while my 3-yr old is spending the night at the grandparents' house, and I'm oddly efficient :)
ReplyDeleteSucks about the appt :(
